Certifi Named in Two 2026 Gartner® Reports: Market Guide for U.S. Healthcare Payer Core Administration and 2026 Top Technology Trends for U.S. Payers

Gartner recognized Certifi in the Billing ancillary category in its 2026 Market Guide for U.S. Healthcare Payer Core Administration and if also named Certifi in its 2026 Top Technology Trends report for U.S. Payers.

MINNEAPOLIS — DATE —Certifi, a purpose-built premium billing and payment platform for health plans, today announced it has been named in two Gartner research publications released in March 2026: the Gartner Market Guide for U.S. Healthcare Payer Core Administration and the Gartner 2026 Top Technology Trends for U.S. Payers. In both reports, Gartner identifies Certifi for its health plan premium billing capability.

In its March 2026 Market Guide for U.S. Healthcare Payer Core Administration, Gartner identifies Certifi in the billing category in Table 2: Ancillary Solutions and Their Differentiating Capabilities. As per the report:

"Legacy and modern core platforms alike fail to compete with stand-alone, line-of-business-specific solutions for challenges in enrollment, billing, product data management, and product and benefit configuration."

In its 2026 Top Technology Trends for U.S. Payers report, Gartner identifies billing system modernization as a key component of the Administration Application Modernization trend, one of four strategic technology trends the firm recommends health plan CIOs act on in 2026. Gartner also mentions:

Identify technology and process challenges related to your plan's core administration platform.

The Administration Application Modernization trend in the Top Technology Trends report addresses the growing decoupling of ancillary functions from core claims systems, noting that product configuration, enrollment, billing, and provider data management have shifted outside core applications to meet specific business needs.

WHAT WE BELIEVE THIS MEANS FOR HEALTH PLANS

We feel these dual recognitions of Certifi underscores a clear industry trend: health plan CIOs increasingly view dedicated billing platforms as an agile and low-risk strategy for modernizing billing, compared to replacing entire core administration systems.

We strongly believe being named by Gartner in both the Top Technology Trends report and the Market Guide for Core Administration validates what our clients have experienced firsthand. Health plans that decouple their billing from their core admin system gain the flexibility to adopt modern payment capabilities, automate reconciliation, and respond to regulatory changes without waiting for a core system overhaul.

Jay Belschner, CEO, Certifi

The Gartner Market Guide for U.S. Healthcare Payer Core Administration notes "If you are retaining a legacy system due to high modernization risks and costs — a trend that grew from 16% in 2023 to 34% in 2025 — leverage AI-augmented tools to squeeze additional value.”  Core administration replacement risks and costs are driving this shift. As a result, decoupling functions such as billing from the core is becoming the preferred modernization pathway, creating demand for purpose-built billing platforms that can integrate with existing core administration systems.

Certifi's William™ platform is purpose-built for health plan premium billing, supporting ACA marketplace, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and commercial employer group populations in a single system. William's Perfect Balance™ accounting architecture reduces the manual reconciliation workloads that drive health plans to evaluate dedicated billing solutions in the first place.
